The Mercury Meta One was a concept car created by the Ford Motor Company brand, Mercury, first introduced at the 2005 North American International Auto Show. The Meta One was the first hybrid concept vehicle.
It featured a twin-turbocharged V6 diesel engine that had an electric motor in the modular hybrid transmission. The torque of the Meta One achieved up to 431 lb·ft (584 N·m) and was 97% cleaner than the Tier I emissions standard for
Like other concept cars, the Meta One featured numerous futuristic gadgets. For instance, the vehicle’s key doubled as a PDA; it was designed to also store emergency contacts. The Meta One also featured built-in Sirius Satellite Radio and a roaming always-on Wi-Fi connection to deliver to the driver updated traffic conditions and real-time reports.
The Meta One will not be released as production vehicle.

Though the Civic was much smaller than automotive luminaries like the Vega, Gremlin and Pinto, it had light sporty feel and a lot more room for passengers.
Now after more than three decades, the fuel prices have jumped again and savvy consumers are again marching towards Honda dealers in search of another neat solution. But the 2009 Honda Civic is much more luxurious and larger than that of disco era Civa sedan or coupe, the 2009 Honda Civic is a small available car and they both have five main trim levels including DX, LX, EX, EX-L and Si. Honda is also offering the DX Value Package, the Hybrid, the LX-S and the GX on the Civic sedabeen developed for those who have a very tight budget. The Alfa Romeo GTV/Spider is a stylish little 2+2, although the rear seats are only suitable for children or miniscule adults. The FWD platform (which is based on that used in the Fiat Coupe) may put off some hardcore sports car fans. But it offers decent handling in a compact package
0The styling of the GTV and Spider is unique and attractive, the minor update of 2003 gave the car a more contemporary Alfa-Romeo grille and revised front bumper.
The Alfa Romeo GTV has a wedge shaped profile which is in keeping with traditional Alfa Sports design. The back is “cut-off”, creating a sharp, aggressive look. The interior ergonomics have been critisized by some tall drivers complaining that the windscreen is too low. The Spider shares all of these traits with the GTV except for the cut-off back. On the Spider the rear is rounded.
The Spider featured a folding soft-top with five hoop frame, which completely disappears from sight under a flush fitting cover. An electric folding mechanism is fitted on some versions. As would be expected the GTV has a much more rigid chassis, although considerable work was done to ensure that the Spider does not suffer from the traditional convertible chassis problems.

“Mercury products are aimed at winning over new customers who value distinct touches, and this new Sable is sure to impress with a more refined interior design and jewel-like details throughout,” says Cisco Codina, Ford’s group vice president of North America Marketing, Sales and Service.
“Mercury has a great deal of momentum right now, with a fresh lineup including the redesigned Mariner small SUV and popular Milan sedan. The new Sable widistinctive look builds on the clean, modern design themes first introduced on the Mercury Mountaineer and that were further refined on the Milan and new Mariner.
“Mercury customers tend to have a more unique sense of style,” says Moray Callum, director, Ford Car Design. “They have come to expect a different level of sophistication and refinement in the surface development, paint finishes and details like satin aluminum.”
Sable’s clean, integrated front-end design centers on Mercury’s signature satin aluminum waterfall grille flanked by exquisitely detailed, jeweled projector beam headlamps that sweep up over the front fenders. Additional visual highlights at the front of vehicle include new chrome surrounds for the fog lamps and bright, satin aluminum caps on the side mirrors.
Sable’s distinctive LED taillamps feature a predominantly white lens with red accent stripes. The new rear fascia has a cutout for the chrome-tips on the dual exhaust system, a visual cue that suggests more power under the hood. A chrome strip on the bottom edll help continue this momentum,” exterior, a core attribute of Mercury design is a modern, airy interior. With Sable, this design direction comes to life in two-tone interior trim with unique accents. Customers preferring a more technical appearance, for example, can opt for Cyber Carbon, a deep, high-gloss accent that resembles carbon fiber. Standard cloth seats wear an updated and modern graphic design while the Premier Series offers supple two-tone leather seats detailed with contrast stitching and featuring a new, more modern, perforated pattern. Sable features an award-winner, 3.5-liter V-6 engine and a sharp, six-speed transmission. The Duratec 35 engine makes an estimated 260 horsepower, a nearly 30 percent increase over the outgoing Duratec 30, and 245 pound-feet of torque

The Escape and Mariner are basically identical mechanically, only that the Escape has manual transmission available. Aesthetic difference between the Escape and the Mariner include the color of the interiors and cladding, signal repeaters, and the front grille, as the Mariner employs the signature Mercury “waterfall” grille at the front. The Mariner is also Mercury’s first SUV based on a car. It is also the first Mercury vehicle to have a four-cylinder engine since the Cougar, which was discontinued in 2002. A year after the first Mariner was introduced; a hybrid edition was rolled out. The Mariner Hybrid system automatically switches between power from its electric motor, power from its gasoline engine a combination of both battery and engine. This ensures maximum efficiency and performance.
A special Presidential Edition was introduced in 2008 for former U.S. president Bill Clinton. Security features were added to the vehicle, with custom additions like bucket seats in the rear, a refrigerator, and DVD players for each seat. ation wagons are basically sport utilities built on a full-size car chassis. And they precedes the ubiquitous sport utes by scores of decades.
When our family was beginning to grow, a full-sized station wagon served us well. That grew into a van and we got piggy after that. But a station wagon seats six people plus maybe a couple more in the back, it has great carrying capacity, and it has definite car-like driving style (because it is a car) and stupendous utility.
Our tester this week is the Mercury Sable LS wagon. It’s probably, along with the Ford Taurus wagon, one of the more stylistic wagons on the highway. Sable has a definite oval style, which is the theme of the sedan as well. If you look at the wagon from the side, there is a pronounced oval between the A- and C-pillars. The “station wagon” part is just added to the back.
For most of the time we used the Sable, we used it as a straight sedan, as a commuter. And this was fine. It served us well, except that the distance between the inside rear-view mirror and the back of the vehicle was larger than in the sedan. The wagon is slightly heavier so it had a slightly better ride.
Our Sable was a six-seater in normal configuration, but if you only have two passengers or, at max, five, you can fold down the armrest between the front seats that converts into a console with two cupholders and storage in the console itself. It solves the problem of wanting a console with its utility, and still occasionally wanting a six-seater passenger vehicle.
It was when we needed the extra carrying capacity that the Sable wagon came into its own. I had to pick up my lawnmower from its spring tune-up home. I folded down the rear seats of the Sable to convert it into a small enclosed truck, folded the lawnmower’s handle because it would not fit any other way, and I had a vehicle where I could bring the mower home. We kept the seats folded down and brought some of my daughter’s memorabilia to her new home, and again, the Sable wagon was able to act as a truck.
It did its job well and I am surprised by the relative disappearance of wagons on the highway today. Because of their utility, because of their car-like driving style, one would assume that they would remain popular. But they have been supplanted by sport utilities and minivans. I wouldn’t be at all surprised to see wagons return in popularity.
Our Sable was powered by a 3.0-liter DOHC V6 engine that delivered 200 horsepower, which was definitely enough for the vehicle. On interstates and winding roads it handled with aplomb. We had power enough to keep up with any traffic.
It was comfortable in the 60-70 mph range, and at speed limits as well. Because of the Sable’s aerodynamic style, there was no wind noise to speak of, and there was only a little tire noise to disturb the quiet.
The instrument panel had tasteful wood trim to distinguish it from the Taurus, and Ford’s oval pod that contains sound system and HVAC controls. The oval pod takes some getting used to, but once you learn where the controls are there’s no problem. This is a learning process with any new car.
All in all, our week in the Mercury Sable wagon was a pleasant one. I liked the styling, because it was dramatic. I liked the practicality of the wagon because of its utility, and I liked the driving style and the

he Mercury was first introduced to the car market in 1968. The Mercury division of Ford manufactured this line until 1976. It is assumed that the name is homage to the Jamaican city of Bay. The M brand has actually been used in 1967 on the Meteor line, which was available in Canada as Meteor. The Meteor was the upscale trim of the Meteor line. After 1976, the brand was used for two years, in 2005 until 2007. Th in 1968 stood as an upgraded, more luxurious version of the Mercury Comet, until took over its slot in the line of Mercury cars when the Comet was discontinued the year after. The Montego also had a variant, the Cyclone, which was marketed as a high performance version, manufactured until 1971. The Ms “cousin” in the Ford line is the Ford Torino, which like other Mercury-Ford cousins, share a platform and most of its features.
The inaugural generation of the Montego came in four body styles. A four-door sedan, a convertible, a two-door hardtop, and a station wagon were available, with two trims: base trim and an upscale MX trim. A new trim, a luxury MX Brougham was added in 1969.
